{"id":392,"date":"2021-07-03T15:29:36","date_gmt":"2021-07-03T14:29:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.montagnevertemorzine.com\/?post_type=greenpage&#038;p=392"},"modified":"2022-04-26T14:58:59","modified_gmt":"2022-04-26T13:58:59","slug":"packaging","status":"publish","type":"greenpage","link":"https:\/\/montagneverte.org\/en\/greenpage\/packaging\/","title":{"rendered":"Packaging"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Did you know that 98% of food packaging is made of plastic?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>BELOW ARE A LIST OF MONTAGNE VERTE\u2019S SUGGESTIONS FOR ECO-RESPONSIBLE FOOD PACKAGING<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>100 billion used packages are thrown away in France every year.<\/strong> This amounts to 5 million tons, half of which are made of plastic.\u00b9 Food packaging is one of the 10 most recovered pieces of plastic waste in waterways around the world.\u00b2<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s important to know that <strong>8 million tons of plastic makes its way in to our oceans every year<\/strong> and if that\u2019s kept up, there will be more plastic than fish by 2050.\u00b3&nbsp;Halfway between Hawaii and California lies the infamous \u2018plastic island\u2019, or the biggest cluster of plastic in the world measuring 3.5 million km\u00b2.\u2074&nbsp;This is 6 times the surface of France.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Being faced with these environmental impacts, regulation is already starting to change. Businesses are subject to new rules putting sustainable development at the forefront: <strong>the French Senate has banned, as of January 2021, plastic straws and mixing sticks for drinks.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Using packaging which is biodegradable, or even better, compostable is the right solution to make sure our waste doesn\u2019t
