Our Story
Who we are, how we got here and where we are going

Our origin story:
In early 2019, Barbara De Moubray rallied together a small group of friends with a mission to engage the community of Morzine in reducing plastic consumption. In March 2019 Montagne Verte came to life, and work began organising community events and developing an online presence to raise awareness. At the same time Governments around the world were declaring climate and ecological emergencies and it became clear that Montagne Verte needed to go beyond plastic and beyond the parameters of Morzine.
Our mission
The mission was to approach sustainability as a whole and become a valley wide operation. It was officially registered as a not-for-profit public benefit association in August 2019. Montagne Verte is also officially considered as an organization of general interest in the field of environmental protection.
Montagne Verte has become an online and in person database, with resources such as the Green Pages and Eco Guides, regular events, a Second Hand Shop and a number of other achievements
The Team
The work of Montagne Verte is overseen by a Conseil d’Administration made up of local French and English residents, from a mix of professional backgrounds. The day to day operations are managed by the General Manager, the Sustainability Director and a core team of dedicated volunteers. Beyond that, our work is supported by a wider network of passionate volunteers who contribute to events, the shop, and many back of house tasks.
The work of the team couldn’t exist without the support of our members, join us in our mission and be part of the change or join our great team of volunteers.
